TEDx Talk - 'The Birth of Teen-Trepreneurs'

Ladies and Gentleman, I present to you my TEDx Talk...It was a fantastic experience that has led me on to brilliant opportunities.

Ever since my trip back from Nigeria, I have been connecting with many African TV shows, magazines and papers! There is still one show which has yet to be shown on BEN TV which is called the ‘Rhoda Wilson Show’ which will be hosted soon! Will keep you posted.

I’ve been meeting many famous names over the past few months and also many great networks...This brings me on to one of my biggest projects which I’m hoping to have launched in September next year! It’s to give young people the opportunity to set up their own business, be mentored and receive funding from business angels...All through ‘The World At Your Feet.’ More will be revealed soon!

October 9th 2009 – Was the day I spoke at a TEDx event which is an independently organised TED conference having been invited by Daniel Priestley. Over millions of people watch TED speakers online and to be a part of this group is sensational...especially for what it brings with regards to connections and future help.

The funny story behind it was that having met Daniel at an event hosted by the YES Group, I was shopping with my mum in Asda and received a call from Daniel about a month before the event and he explains to me what TED is and why it’s such a prestigious event. I was blown away...Not just for the fact that I’ve been invited to speak at a TEDx event, but just to hear how important and also the big names that have spoken in such conferences i.e. The likes of Bill Clinton!!!
I can only say Thank You to Daniel...But still feel that isn’t enough for the reward it brings me...But it shows the social element to what makes Daniel a really successful entrepreneur!!!

The talk I gave illustrates the vision and power behind the future ‘Teen-Trepreneurs’ and how as a young entrepreneur what we do now and the message it develops, holds the key to the success for nations around the world.

Update with The World At Your Feet: Currently developing an online demo of the ‘Teen-Trepreneur’ board game with Digital 2.0 and also have the BBC World Services doing a documentary on my journey for the less educated in Bangladesh.

I have currently rolling 2 TV show opportunities...One is with SWAT TV which is where i’ll be having my own online TV show which i’m currently working on with SWAT TV, approximately 800,000 viewers is estimated worldwide!

Also am pitching to the BBC for my own TV show with GENEUS Films who are the production company! Fingers crossed on both!

Finally i have now got my new ‘Little TWAYFers’ to help develop the stories leading up to The World At Your Feet Cartoon Series...Really exciting stuff!

Enjoy the talk!

When a Nation falls in love with you: NIGERIA

video

For every journey there is a tale...There is a story...But one I have for everyone is a story that changed the lives of thousands and had an effect on Millions! Ever since I had the ambition and belief to want to inspire others through my story as an entrepreneur it grasped the heart of many. Having received an official invitation by Professor Uche Azikiwe, the wife of Nigeria’s first President to speak at the Under 30’s Financial Summit in Awka, Nigeria...The tale of this journey began. The summit was organised by Withworth ltd an enterprise organisation in Nigeria and with over 3000 young people attending the event, it was a massive event to have been invited to speak at.

July 8th 2009, I travelled from London at around 10:30pm with my uncle and arrived the following day in Lagos, Nigeria where I met Stanley Ezeabasirim who I’ve known for over a year. We then flew over from Lagos to Enugu straight away where I met the rest of the Withworth crew and the head of Withworth, Obinna Etele. In Enugu, I was straight away taken to Cosmo FM which is a national radio station where I spoke to an audience of over 13 million people about what entrepreneurship is all about and what I’ll be doing in Nigeria. We then drove to another radio station that same day which had an audience of students from every university in Nigeria! It was incredible to have been getting such coverage on my first day in Nigeria.

Prior to my visit to Nigeria, Obinna and Stanley had put together such press coverage that I was mentioned on 2 of their national newspapers, had my face and name on massive and I mean massive bill boards around the country and had been on flyers that were sent out to every university in Nigeria! So my presence in Nigeria wasn’t an unexpected one! From Enugu with then drove to Awka which is in the Anambra state. That is where the Under 30’s Financial Summit was going to take place! The event took place the following day and looking down from my hotel room, words cannot describe the number of young people that were attending. 3000 may even be such a small number...They were coming in the buses, cars and Ochadas! (Motorbike transport). Hundreds have had to sit outside the venue place as there were so many attending.

The event was indescribable; the reception I got was like being a celebrity. Everyone wanted to see me, stand beside me, touch me, talk to me...it goes on! I even had security beside me! When I gave my inspirational talk it really affected each and every one of the young students who attended the event. Their faces said it all! How I saw and what I saw with my own two eyes cannot be described in writing! Beyond belief! I never felt so much happiness or have got so emotional to know that what I have had to say created a whole new chapter within the lives of the thousands who attended! The video proves it! I could be writing on and on...Therefore I will say no more but will let you all know that for me it has opened a door to writing a new book titled under the name of the blog which I strongly believe will influence and inspire many generations to believe that a person can change the world!

The new book will be available for download as an E-Book or a printed book itself with the full story of my trip to Nigeria and the massive impact it had...Coming Soon.

Preparing my trip to Nigeria

From Monday this week, Nigeria was somewhere in and around my mind! Now only a few days to go until my trip to Nigeria happens! Really excited about the prospect of speaking at a summit to which I was invited by the wife of Nigeria’s former president (Professor Uche Azikiwe)!

This week (on Monday) I was interviewed by two magazine editors who are really keen on my story!!! But the story I feel is more surprising to share is how they heard about me! I spoke at an event in Leeds to a bunch of primary and secondary school students plus the teachers of course. And one of the teachers went home and couldn’t stop talking about what I had said. That was inspirational...and what happened was she spoke to her son who lives in London over the phone to get in touch with me as he was writing articles about teenage success and bang he straight away got in touch with me! I love it when things like that happen...and that wasn’t the first time!
Speaking of inspiration and teachers...My business studies teacher back in Swanlea School has been a great asset over the years; from his knowledge of business to taking fantastic photos! Yes, I mean photos! The everyday students would learn and be inspired by what the teacher says and does and that was no different for me! But having written my first book at the age of 17 and selling over 42,500 copies, it opened the eyes of many people across the UK that writing and publishing a book isn’t difficult! So, I can now proudly say that I have inspired my business studies teacher ‘Louis Berk’ to make his dream of publishing a book become a reality!
‘Walk to Work’ is a self published book launched on 28th June 2009 which illustrates my teacher’s journey from home to work through beautiful photos that the eye and the mind would not capture. The book opens the mind of the reader to accept that the every day journey is actually something of a beauty. Check out his website: http://www.louisberk.com/

What a week, from seeing and hearing the voice of The World At Your Feet spread from Leeds to London to actually inspiring my very own business studies teacher...I know I have a lot to speak about when it comes to my trip to Nigeria on Wednesday 8th July. I’ve had many phone calls already from very young students in Nigeria just wanting to say hello and well done! Unbelievable...I often get quite emotional that my message has really gone thousands of miles across the world.

Check out next week as my website and blog will have videos of my entire trip to Nigeria and how it went...So it’s my way of bringing my journey in Nigeria to you!

Oh...and before i forget! The World At Your Feet online store is now open so make a change to your life and order a copy of the book and the board game!

All the best

On thursday...! Had a meeting with a potential investor for 'Teen-Trepreneur' - The World At Your Feet board game, and it went very well. Fingers crossed he comes back with a positive verdict!

And today, i'm off to Dollis Hill to talk to a bunch of young people giving them the inspirational and help to succeed as an entrepreneur through enterprise! I'm really looking forward to it!

Next week is big, getting everything sorted for the launch of 'The World At Your Feet' book and board game, with a possible launch date of June 4th!

Filmed by the Book Channel and the BBC at Home!

Yesterday was big for me personally, i was filmed for the new TV channel called the book channel (http://www.thebookchannel.tv/) coming out next month on sky channel 166. This was for my new book called 'The World At Your Feet' three strikes to a successful entrepreneurial life which comes out on April 30th.

Today, yes today, my family was filmed by the BBC in our own living room, to get the views of young people about how the BBC, CBBC and Cbeebies and especially Television has had an impact on their lives.

It was fantastic, to see my whole family as a part of the BBC.

Next week is quite big too, as i'll be filmed for a new Channel 4 programme that involves young entrepreneurs pitching their ideas. I'm so excited.

Speak soon!

How a 30 minute speech changed the lives of 600 students

Yesterday at the Harris City Academy, i spoke in front of 600 students ranging from ages 14 up to 18. And i have to say it was one of my most influential speeches i have given as a speaker and the one i can say had the biggest impact.

After the speech, i've had so many students come round asking for help, advice and to be their mentors. Even after school, many students just waited for me to step outside just so they could speak to me. I felt like a celeb!

I am came home and then see that my inbox was full of questions and 'thank yous' from those students as they were so inspired, i even got a few wedding proposals! My Facebook was full of new faces and guess what it was those students from Harris City Academy.

To be able to say that my voice had an impact at that level illustrates the strength behind a teenager being able to pass on the message about enterprise and entrepreneurship and the impact it has on changing the belief within young people.

So i urge people out there that this recession is just a mere setback for many and for young people, its a great opportunity to pounce on.

My emotions that day were high. Long may that continue!

A week of memories

On Tuesday 3rd, i was back with the Young Enterprise! Attended a competition as a guest and it brought back memories of when i took part in the Young Enterprise who kicked started my journey as a young entrepreneur. It was tense and i even got goosebumps even though i was a part of the audience. Its Fantastic!

Thursday 5th, was the first ever Make Your Mark Pioneers networking event. Met huge high profile young entrepreneurs and networked for about 3 hours in a 2 hour event! Some young stories that really were inspirational! The Make Your Mark are a huge asset for myself and for anyone who wants to take the entrepreneurial route!

Talking about memories, i got in touch with someone for the first time in almost 9 years. And am still in shock that it took 9 years to track this person down and all i can say that i tracked this person down 3 months too late! Ouch...!

Facebook has been a relevation for me, especially as it helped me track down old faces and friends who i have not see for years.

This post i think is a more personal one than business. But its a week that will go down in my diary with tears of joy! So i thought i'd share that with you all!

Who says the UK is not the 'Land of Opportunity.'

Just published my official Top 10 Tips for Entrepreneurial Success yesterday. The downloading was huge within 24 hours. Wow!

This month has been very hectic with the press related work for the book getting underway and also its still be very difficult to get hold of celebrity entrepreneur photos.

My Board Game designing is now officially underway. The cost is huge! I have meeting coming up with mentors, investors and famous entrepreneurs.

And remember 'The World At Your Feet' book is coming out on 30th April this year and will be available in all major book stores. Thats a date for your diary!

All the best

Salute to 2009!

Hey everyone! What a year 2008 has been not only for 'The World At Your Feet' coming to life but the journey i have experienced! It may already be nearing the end of the first month in 2009 but already in the past 23 days, i have managed to come up with innovative ideas, provide greater inspiration and of course develop the award winning brand!

In the past week or so i have had meetings with my solicitors, BT and my inspirational mentor who all plan to have a great say in developing 'The World At Your Feet.' The brand will now officially be registering as a 'trademark' and 'The World At Your Feet' board game is almost at the stage of production!

Not only that 'The World At Your Feet' will actively engage with the young audience with two secret ideas which i will be revealing soon! So keep your eyes and ears open!

And finally 'The World At Your Feet' has now got an official (redesigned) logo both for the business and for the 'Little TWAYFers'! It will be launched on Tuesday next week!

All the Best

Mosaic Entrepreneur of the Year Winner!!!

Hello Everyone. The evening of Wednesday 26th November was one of the most daunting yet sensational events i have been too. Having been shortlisted for the Mosaic Entrepreneur of the Year Award, I attended the Natural History Museum which is where the winner was announced!

With HRH Prince of Wales and HRH Princess Badiya bint El Hassan awarding the winner, it came to the moment where my heart was pounding over 140beats per minutes. With four shortlisted nominees for the Mosaic Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the camera was all on me! And my name was called out as the winner of the award. It has to be said as one of my greatest achievements to date. I was awarded by both HRH Prince of Wales and HRH Princess Badiya bint El Hassan, and my parents especially my mother couldnt stop crying.

With famous names all around the awards ceremony, it was amazing to be on the stage with the Royal Highnesses.

For me its just the start of whats to come, and thats my vision in trying to achieve but most importantly inspire those around me that an ordinary individual can achieve great things.

Do get in touch, if you can help take my ideas forward as all this was down to the networks i had such as Merrill Lynch, MyBnk and Swanlea School who nominated me for the prestigious Mosaic Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

It would be great to hear from you.

Sabirul Islam - The Journey (So you're updated)!

My name is Sabirul Islam, 18. I am a young entrepreneur having started my own website designing company at the age of 14. Ever since I have been inspired to bring success at my arms. At the age of 16, I became a part time trader in the London Stock Market, having learnt the basics of investing in New York. I came back to inspire others that they too can achieve success by writing my first book called ‘The World At Your Feet’ at 17, to motivate and inspire young people that they can turn their vision into reality through self belief and confidence. Now 18, I am promoting ‘The World At Your Feet’ brand by launching a TV program, Cartoon series, magazine and board game to promote entrepreneurship within youth and inspire them to bring ‘The World At Their Feet.’
