Global Entrepreneurship Week - My Impact!
Some may say, Enterprise is something i was born with! Well, thats not true! Independant learning is the key. And what special way to promote enterprise than during Enterprise Week!
Monday 17th November: At Swanlea School, (My Secondary School), almost 200 teachers from primary and secondary schools were there in an inset day! Pretty weird that on such an important week, students get a day off! Anyway, there i was, invited to speak and inspire these 200 teachers that not only can young people make the most of their talent and skills in life, but the teachers too! And yeah, i did my usual thing of inspiring both the young and old, and i made the teachers realise that they can be more than just teachers. The beauty is that i like to see everyones mouth wide open when i talk. It shows that they are not only listening to what i'm saying, there also consuming it! Now, that made them understand the importance of who they are as individuals!
I went around 5 other schools around London doing 15 minutes speeches to help young students bring 'The World At Their Feet.'
Tuesday 18th November: Off to Burnley! My first time at such a hill-topped place and there i was thinking London was cold! A 6 hour journey there, and a 5 hour journey back. Waking up at 4.30am is now becoming my regular days job! But it can get tiring. I only had the opportunity to stay at Hameldon School for 2 hours in Burnley speaking to 4 different groups who have shown interest in enterprise learning. I did my usual thing, and the first time i got a response saying that i've got competition. Yes, someone in Burnley has challenged me that he will be able to get up that entrepreneurial ladder. Which is a very enterprising and bold statement to make, but that takes courage and i respect that student!
Wednesday 19th November: My trip to Luton! If i have to say that i'v been to so many schools with such respected students, i would be lying. But the students in Luton Sixth Form College were sensational. They not only understood what i was saying, or with their mouths wide open, its the response i get after i talk that illustrates the impact, and i was surrounded! From the teachers to students to photographers, it was mayhem in a good way! From 8am to 4pm, i did various things from helping the students come up with their own business ideas to judging their pitch in a Dragons Den style competition. But when the stduents were told that i was leaving, the standing innovation i receieved brought 'The World At My Feet.' I have to say, that i was priveleged to be at such an innovative and unique sixth form college!
Having come back from Luton, i went to an enterprise Event run by MyBnk called 'Heres my two pennies woth...' and i was a guest speaker at the event. I got to meet Michael Sophocles who was one of the contestants at the previous series of 'The Apprentice.' The event was a great networking event and i feel that networking is the best was to take a business forward.
Thursday 20th November: Finally. i got my real sleep! I woke up at around 12pm, and started doing work to develop 'The World At Your Feet' brand. I started working on the new website i will updating on www.theworldatyourfeet.com - so keep you eyes, ears and all other senses open! I also hosted and updated 'The World At Your Feet' Video part 1, which illustrates the story of my journey leading to where i am today at: http://www.vimeo.com/2269290
Friday 21st November: My visit to Harris Academy Merton, a school in south London. Over 400 students were inspired by what i had to say and at the end i have to say i had a very tired hand. Possibly more tired than David Beckham even when he does his autograph signing. I didn't even get a break during each session! But its worth it, i have to say. Having come back home, i was back on the computer and started online networking on 'The Ecademy.'
If you thought this week was big for me, wait until you hear about what heppens next week! From photo shoots, to meeting the Royal Family! Like i said keep your eyes, ears and all other sense open...!
